Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

When you create an account on The Crate, we collect your email address and, optionally, your name and DJ/artist name. If you are a label or PR team, we also collect your company name and billing information through our payment processor.

When you use the platform, we collect usage data including tracks you preview or download, feedback you submit, gigs you log, and play data you report. This data powers the analytics and tier system that benefits both labels and DJs.

2. How we use your information

• To operate the platform and deliver promos to your inbox
• To provide play tracking, feedback, and analytics to labels
• To calculate your status tier based on activity and engagement
• To send transactional emails (magic links, promo notifications, review reminders)
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To generate AI-powered feedback summaries for labels (aggregated, not individual)

3. Information shared with labels

When a label adds you to their mailing list, they can see your DJ name, genres, status tier, play counts, and gig activity. Your email address is only visible to labels whose mailing list you are on. Labels cannot see your email if you are not on their list.

Feedback you submit on a promo is shared with the label that sent it. Play logs and gig reports are shared with labels whose tracks you played.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate The Crate:

• Resend for transactional email delivery
• Stripe for payment processing and subscription management
• Supabase for database hosting
• Cloudflare R2 for audio file storage
• Vercel for frontend hosting
• Railway for API hosting
• Anthropic Claude for AI-powered feedback summaries

Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

5. Audio content

Audio files uploaded by labels are stored securely and served via time-limited signed URLs. Streamed previews are watermarked with the recipient's identity to prevent unauthorized distribution. Downloaded files may also carry invisible watermarks.

6. Cookies and local storage

We use browser local storage to maintain your login session (JWT token) and UI preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or analytics scripts. No advertising cookies are used on The Crate.

7. Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

8. Your rights

You can update or delete your profile information at any time through your account settings. To request a full data export or account deletion, contact us at privacy@thecrate.io.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the platform. Your continued use of The Crate after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
